BMW 7 Series Launch Mela Events created an award winning sensory experience for the launch of the flagship BMW 7 Series. Guests were treated to a seven course meal by master Chef Dario de Angeli; each course cleverly tied into features of the vehicle.
Solid Black developed graphics to complement the menu and enhance the sensory experience.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Event Graphics The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, were showcased at a prestigious launch event held at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Tema Expressway Project AV Presentation A.P. Moller Capital commissioned a Visualization of the proposed Tema Expressway Project.

Solid Black created photo realistic 3D renders of the various locations along the new 16 kilometer route. Spanning from Ashaiman Interchange all the way to Tema Port , this Project is a comprehensive upgrade of the current road network in Tema.



Kleerflo Technical Animation Kleerflo Filters are in-line, pressurised, automatic self-cleaning filters. A realistic 3D animation was developed in order explain the processes , functionality and applications of the unique design. Buena Vista AV
Webber Wentzel Web Video Webber Wentzel is one of South Africa’s Largest Law Firms. We created an animated video that showcases their proud 150-year history, highlighting their numerous firsts and achievements in a fun and engaging manner.
KFC Event Graphics Solid Black was approached by Mela Events about producing content for the KFC Regional General Managers awards ceremony in April 2014. The brief was to animate a logo build and an AV that would loop as celebrated performer Lebo Mashile read her poetry live onstage at the event. Specifically, we were to develop content that would visually represent the values of the company’s CSI campaign – Add Hope.
Itraffic TVC VFX iTraffic is an online resource for the monitoring and reporting of Johannesburg’s freeway traffic. In order to promote this new service a television commercial was developed, drawing on the concept of ‘You never know what is around the corner’.

On-Sight productions filmed the commercial in the Southern Cape, which depicted two girls in a vehicle who are surprised by a rock fall, have to make an emergency stop and are then greeted by an angry Tyrannosaurus Rex.

The dinosaur and rock fall were both created in 3D, which required the footage to be motion tracked in order to best match the movement of the live camera. iTraffic TVC
Riet Mining Complex Visualisation Sable mining tasked Solid Black at creating a 3 minute sales video for the proposed Rietkuil coal mine in Delmas.

Solid Black recreated the mining complex in 3D from plan drawings using Autodesk Maya. The video was used to demonstrate possible mining activities and capabilities, which included the extraction of coal and distribution via train to South African ports.
Nando's Event opening Well known South African food brand, Nando’s has an annual conference for all their employees. We created and paper cut out style logo opening used to begin the conference. The animation showed everyday examples of how to “be remarkable” – the theme for the conference.
Beezag VFX This 60 second spot for beezag.com had to convey the concept, "What's on your mind is on your screen". To do this, Solid Black utilized advanced compositing techniques to superimpose 3D elements onto live action footage.
Sorrento Stud Farm 2D Animation This 2d animation was developed for Sorrento Stud farm. The animation was developed to advertise their grand racing horse, King Louis, who has now retired and is looking for a partner to settle down with.
Standard Bank MOE 2016 Event Graphics Solid black was proud to be a part of this opulent, paradise-found themed evening where Standard Bank rewards its top CIB performers: was held in was held in tropical Mauritius. Solid Black developed content to support the dancers and awards for the gala evening.
Standard Bank Human Capital Event Opening The Standard Bank Human Capital division wanted to change the way their staff viewed Human Capital. A quirky cutout style animation was used to open the 2017 Corporate Event. Throughout the video Solid Black communicated the themes of the event - viewing Human Capital from a different perspective and taking your mind to a place where there are no limits.
MBFI Visualisation MBFI is an agricultural technology business which develops a number of fertilizers, plant hormones and inoculants, all of which enhance the growth and development of crops. Solid Black created a number of animations to explain the unique processes their products offer and what separates MBFI from their competitors.
American Chickens Character Animation Don’t Forget George (DFG) events contracted Solid Black to develop a TV commercial for West African chicken brand , American Chickens.

The concept developed by DFG involved two 3D chickens who danced with each other to the popular “Chicken Song”
Smart Meter 2D Animation Emfuleni Local Municipality contracted us to develop this whiteboard animation video to explain to members of the public the ins and outs of the new Smart Meter system being implemented.
Pnet - Recruiters Online Video PNet, a premier online job portal, used an animated video to explain to their users the new features which had been added to their website. Two videos were developed for the target markets, Job Seekers and Recruiters - Each explained the intricacies of the changes and reminded users of existing functionality.

3D Animation

We are able to create life-like realism and depth with CGI (computer generated imagery) for characters, environments and products.

2D Animation

Often referred to as Traditional style animation, 2D is created using hand drawn or computer generated images for stylised flat animation. 2D is most commonly used in explainer videos, infographics and cartoons.

Video Production

Our team is able to provide and manage a full service video production service for location or studio shoots. We provide hiring of gear, crew, casting, recce and submission for final broadcast.

VFX and Compositing
